Women's Hit-A-Thon Rules
Each player will have 5 total swings (not necessarily hits) per round. This number may change, at the event manager's discretion, given total registration numbers to ensure the event finishes in a timely manner. Batters may only take (not swing) at two pitches in a row before they MUST swing at the third pitch; failure to do so will result in an automatic out.
There will only be one round of Hit-A-Thon, unless there is a tie. In the event of a tie, there will be a subsequent round of 3 swings (unless the event manager has reduced the swings, in which case, the tie breaker round will follow those revised rules). If a tie remains after one round, there will be a series of a single hit rounds until a winner is declared.
The field will be marked in increments of 25'. Each hit ball will be scored based on the furthest 25'-increment line it crosses. For example, a ball hit ~60' will count as a 50' hit. A ball hit ~77' will count as a 75' hit. Any homeruns hit over the fence will be counted as 250' of distance, irrespective of distance.
Pitchers: Underhand front toss method or a pitching machine will be used for all batters.
Balls: Level 5 compression balls will be used exclusively.
Bats must be USA Baseball/Softball, BBCOR, or Wood/Wood Composite bats. No USSSA baseball or softball bats are permitted for safety reasons.
Batters may wear protective helmets and gear, if they desire. All participants must complete and sign the participation agreement, which is included in the registration form. Costumes are also encouraged!
Open Home Run Derby Rules
Each contestant will have 5 total "outs" per round. Any swing that fails to produce a homerun is scored an out (i.e., swing and miss, foul balls are outs). Homeruns will not count as outs. The number of outs may change at the event manager's discretion, given total registration numbers to ensure the event finishes in a timely manner. Batters may only take (not swing) at two pitches in a row before they MUST swing at the third pitch; failure to do so will result in an automatic out.
Advancing each round: FCKLL reserves the right to make changes to the rules based on the total number of participants, which we expect to change up until the contest starts. This is to help ensure the event is not overly-lengthy. The top 10 participants will advance to the second (semi-final) round. All tied scores will advance to the second (semi-final) round. The top 3 will advance to the final round. In the event of a final-round tie, a 3 swing tie-breaking round will be used until a decisive winner is determined. Homerun totals reset each round.
Pitchers: Underhand front-toss method or a pitching machine will be used for all batters. Fair and equitable pitchers will be provided by the League.
Balls: Level 5 compression balls (harder tee balls) will be used exclusively for safety reasons.
Bats must be USA Baseball/Softball, BBCOR, or Wood/Wood Composite bats. No USSSA baseball or softball bats are permitted for safety reasons. For more serious hitters, a -3 drop (or wood) is strongly encouraged to create parity among participants.
Batters may wear protective helmets and gear, if they desire. All participants must complete and sign the participation agreement, which is included in the registration form. Costumes are also encouraged!
